HousingSmarts was founded by Elizabeth (Liz) Torres. With more than 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit community development and dedication to ending poverty, she has demonstrated a masterful ability to launch, grow and lead initiatives in response to community needs. Her strong experience with Connecticut’s housing sector has earned her multiple awards and recognitions in the affordable housing industry. She also has the respect and trust of her extensive network in and throughout the State and beyond. Her strong financial acumen and knowledge of real estate development and finance is second to none! Among her many talents, Liz’s skills include: strategic planning and implementation, team building, relationship cultivation, public relations and fund raising.
On a personal note, she has two children and five grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family and hiking the Appalachian Trial. In 2018 Liz completed the Camino de Santiago.
